LUMSK is a local aquaintance from my area of Trondheim here in Norway, and for me the name has spun in circles these last months since their foundation. This is their first demo though and they also seem to have now found a steady line-up that can remain on one course. Musically it is very different and original folk music, combined with some touches of metal. Usually it would have been the other way around, but Lumsk are trying the different way, and their very melodic folk approach gains them the original status in my ears. For comparisons, I guess Otyg and Storm can be the closest you get, but those two have the metal in the foreground, while Lumsk here seem to be on the other side of things, focusing more on the combinations of clear sound, good male / female vocals and instrumental performances, that for me sounds very exciting. Lumsk is something different, and although I can not give them a full score for this very professional recording, I am quite sure this band can become a hit for fans of folk music. For nostalgics and fanatics, I can also mention that Eystein Garberg, ex-Wallachia is now giving his priority to this band.
