"The production is very good, probably the best I have heard for a demo recording."
|
Well, folk music really isn't my thing to begin with. And the amount of metal that is mixed into the music on this recording is far from satisfactory for someone who worships blastbeats and growling. But the production is very good, probably the best I have heard for a demo recording. And it is obvious that the musicians are very skilled. The music is slow, with some heavy guitars that create the only element from metal that I can find. And when I say slow I mean slow in the same way as the old records by My Dying Bride. No blasting here. The vocals are extremely well performed, but I tend to get bored by clean, female vocals after a while. The songs are an attempt to put music to words taken from and old Norwegian folk tale, which probably makes it more interesting to people of Norwegian heritage than it is to myself. This gives an excellent opportunity to include some viking-like sound samples, which sound very cool. As you already know, the main problem that I have with Lumsk is that they play too much folk music and way too little metal. So if you like that kind of music, maybe you should give them a chance.
