Album Of The Month
"I can’t tell you enough how pleased I am to see that the band have lived up to my rather huge expectations"

I’ve only been a fan of Lumsk for almost two years, since their visit at annual AMF in 2005. Now the band has finally issued their new album Det Vilde Kor. It is one of the most exciting and awaited releases this year, and I can’t tell you enough how pleased I am to see that the band have lived up to my rather huge expectations. After the very first listening I was impressed by their performance. On the album there are 12 tracks of some of the best folk romantic rock music ever. There’s one particular topic in all songs, a story that goes through. In this case Lumsk have taken old poems of one famous Norwegian writer (Knut Hamsun) and transformed them into the beautiful songs. All lyrics are quite interesting and together with great vocal performances it is the best thing about this release. Stine has joyful and sexy dark singing voice and also playing violin the way Siv Lena does, is just inspiring to me. The moods and the voice of Stine changes a few times throughout the album, from sorrowful over longing to more happy moods. The band’s energy and enthusiasm shines through your stereo while playing this record. It is really something very different and very original, also having in mind that all lyrics/titles are in their native Norwegian language. Det Vilde Kor is definitely one of the best releases in 2007 so far. You don’t have to be a fan of folkish sound and Nordic imaginary to love this album. It is a piece of a beautiful treasure that will be enjoyed in my apartment for years to come. 96/100 p
