"I am speechless!
Wonderful, emotional, exciting, captivating – with one word, Det Vilde Kor rips into my heart from the first second on."

Wonderful, emotional, exciting, captivating – with one word, Det Vilde Kor rips into my heart from the first second on. The Norwegian Folk Rock ensemble develops these deep feelings with the help of mostly calm and silent means. Interim some moderate, in contrast slightly short-tempered parts appear and contribute a bunch of dynamics to the impressing compositions. LUMSK use a lot of different instruments, which are not so common, namely clarinet, oboe, accordion or flugelhorn besides the classic cast of guitar, bass and drums. On top of everything, the band added a string quartet to boost the compositions’ effect. The vocal assignment displays another enormous brownie point. Beautiful female voices delight the listener’s ear and heart, sometimes contrasted by a male counterpart. LUMSK collaborated with Norwegian Grammy-nominated artist Ola Bremnes.

Let me tell you some words about the record’s lyrical aspect. One day guitarist Eystein Garberg came across Knut Hamsun’s work, one of Norwegian’s most influential poets. He wanted to use one of the collections as sample for musical conversion. All texts are therefore sung in national language, every now and then I can actually understand the one or other term – an additional facet this work turns out that affectionately. This album is simply perfect for recreation, combined with artistically pretence. In other words: it affiliates easy listening and interesting, detailed art in composing. Det Vilde Kor must be seen as complete work, meant to absorb the sounds leaving this world behind for a while.

This release is… silent, at the same time stirring… artistic, but easy accessible… demanding and concurrent catchy. Simply 40 minutes of wonderful lyrical as well as musical interplay performed in gorgeous dedication. Sometimes words seem insufficiently to describe music, better said art – so I let the music do the talking…
